What we do
With Mendix you can build an incredible amount, and fast. What the platform is and can do, Mendix explains best itself. Here we explain what we do with it for our clients, and how we go about it.
Senior Mendix teams
Good Mendix developers are scarce. What you are offered is often one person, and not always as senior as the CV promises.
At Stoneworx you get a team. Our developers have at least three years of Mendix experience and are certified at Advanced level or higher; nine colleagues are Expert-certified. Behind every developer stands our Mendix Expertise Centre: experienced colleagues who review architecture, integrations, security and performance. You notice it when a question is answered the same day, even when your developer did not have the answer at hand.
That works in three ways.
- Within your own teams. Our developers and architects join your sprints, with your product owners, in your environment. You stay in charge. That is how we work for Rabobank: within the existing teams and at architecture level.
- As a complete team. For a solution you do not build yourself, we deliver consultant, architect and developers, with one point of contact in the Netherlands. Thanks to Porto we can deliver entire development teams, also at short notice.
- Hybrid. Dutch leadership and architecture, development capacity in Porto. The same quality, a sharper rate than an all-Dutch team.
Permanent hire or contracting? Every organisation weighs this up. Contracting with Stoneworx has a few properties worth comparing: seniority available immediately, continuity through the Expertise Centre, no recruitment costs and no employer risks. We are happy to discuss it openly, even if the outcome is "permanent".
Mendix in your landscape
Your ERP, your HR system, or that one old system everything runs on: it is the backbone of your organisation. Changing it is expensive, slow and risky. Customisation in the core delays every upgrade and ties you to a supplier. Meanwhile the pile of Excel files keeps growing.
We do it differently. The core does what it is good at, and we build the flexibility around it, in Mendix. We read data and write it back; the core system stays clean. We do that with the standard integrations of Mendix (REST, SOAP, OData) and with the connectors of the systems themselves, such as the GetConnectors and UpdateConnectors of AFAS. We have done this on AFAS, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Exact and Visma Nmbrs.
What we build alongside a core system: portals for customers, suppliers or employees; planning and calculations the ERP does not offer; workflows across several systems; dashboards that combine data from several sources.
Banks and fintech
Banks have become IT companies. With legacy, strict compliance and the pressure to deliver faster. We know that world. At ABN AMRO we worked as expert partner on a large migration of forms, in hybrid teams from the Netherlands and Porto. For Rabobank we work within the existing teams and at architecture level.
What you may expect from us: developers and architects who know audit and security requirements, who fit in your governance, and who join your way of working from day one.
Advice on software costs
You buy software to solve a problem. Then it stays in use for years, with recurring costs and ever more adjustments to the way you work. What rarely happens: looking again at what that process really costs per year.
We do not start with technology, but with the process and the figures. How does it run today? What does it cost per year, including manual work, errors and workarounds? Only then comes the question whether your current software still makes sense, or whether custom software works out cheaper. In many cases the tipping point lies between two and four years.
Four steps: process and cost analysis, objective comparison, design of the solution where custom software pays off, and realisation with Mendix.
