How we work

How we work

Stoneworx works as one team from the Netherlands and Porto. The same people, the same standards, the same quality. Whoever hires a Mendix developer from us gets a whole team with it. That is how we make something complex simple: you have one point of contact, we take care of the rest.

One team

One team in the Netherlands and Porto

Our consultants and architects in the Netherlands lead the work and are your point of contact. Our developers in the Netherlands and Porto build. They are our own people, employed by Stoneworx, and they have worked in fixed teams since 2023. The teams visit each other regularly and work together every day, within the same working day. Portugal is one hour behind the Netherlands; in practice you do not notice.

That collaboration gives you three things a Dutch agency alone cannot offer.

Complete teams

Not just individual developers, but entire development teams: consultant, architect, developers and test, with one point of contact in the Netherlands.

A sharper rate

Dutch leadership, development capacity in Porto. The same quality, priced better than an all-Dutch team.

Fast scaling

If your project suddenly needs more capacity or different expertise, it is there quickly. And afterwards back to the normal line-up.

We work for clients in the Netherlands and beyond, from Soest and Porto, in Dutch or in English.

This is how ABN AMRO worked with us on a large migration.

“Stoneworx was enlisted by ABN AMRO as expert partner and delivered additional highly trained Mendix professionals from Portugal. Working in a hybrid setup with our local teams, they added speed and quality while maintaining strong cost control.”
Benjamin Blaauw, Head of Development Automation, ABN AMRO
Our approach

First the question of what is needed

With Mendix you can build an incredible amount, and fast. That is exactly why our first question is not what is possible, but what is needed. Everyone says they look at it together with the client; this is what that looks like with us.

Explore

We start with your process and your question. What goes wrong or too slowly today, who suffers from it, and what do you want to be different in a year? Often in one or two conversations with the people who do the work. We also say so when Mendix is not the right tool.

Proposal

You get a concrete proposal: what we build, what we deliberately leave out, who does it, what it costs and when it is ready. Not a thick report, but a document you can say yes or no to.

Build

In short sprints, with your people involved. Every sprint something working that you can try. Important decisions on architecture and integrations are reviewed by the Expertise Centre before they are built.

Evolve

Live is not done. We keep improving for as long as you want, in the same rhythm and with the same people. Or we hand over properly to your own team, with documentation and handover sessions.

Mendix Expertise Centre

A whole team behind every developer

Good Mendix developers are scarce. Those with experience often work as freelancers, and staffing agencies present beginners as seniors. On top of that, one developer, however good, never knows everything. That is why we have the Mendix Expertise Centre: experienced colleagues at Expert level who review architecture, integrations, security and performance. It is a standard part of our work; you do not have to ask for it and it is not a separate line on the invoice.

What it gives you:

Quality that does not depend on one person

Architecture decisions are reviewed before they are built, not afterwards. Code is reviewed by someone who did not write it.

Continuity

If a consultant changes, the knowledge of your application is not lost. The Expertise Centre keeps it, and a successor is up to speed quickly.

Speed

A question your developer cannot answer straight away is with a colleague who can the same day. No waiting days for a specialist.

Specialist knowledge without a specialist rate

Integrations, security, performance, upgrades: within reach, without hiring a full-time specialist.

Current knowledge

New Mendix versions, new possibilities, new pitfalls. The Expertise Centre keeps up, so your team does not have to.

Experience and certification

Highly experienced, and you can check it

Our pioneers have worked with Mendix for more than ten years and have over twenty years of experience in IT: architecture, integrations, cloud and security. That experience sits in the Expertise Centre and in the way we compose teams.

Every developer at Stoneworx has at least three years of Mendix experience and is certified at Advanced level or higher. Nine colleagues are Expert-certified, the highest level Mendix knows; Mendix requires, among other things, 350 working days of project experience and three projects as lead developer. One colleague is a Mendix MVP, a title for developers who demonstrably contribute to the platform and the community. In total 25+ developers work with us, in the Netherlands and Porto. As of September 2026.

Beyond Mendix we know the technology around it: Java and JavaScript, REST and SOAP integrations, ERP and HR systems such as AFAS, SAP, Dynamics, Exact and Nmbrs, cloud platforms, test automation and security. That is what "Mendix in your landscape" asks for in practice.

Why clients value us

No surprises. People who think along.

Experience you notice

We know not only the platform, but also everything attached to it. That saves detours.

Fixed points of contact

The same people for the duration of the engagement. You do not have to explain every month how your organisation works.

Thinking along

We do not only build what you ask for. We also tell you when something else is smarter, or when something is not needed.

The client comes first

Your process and your goal determine what we build, not what is technically possible.

Transparent and honest

Clear agreements beforehand, open communication during the work, no surprises afterwards.

No-nonsense

Practical software that does what was agreed. No superfluous features, no thick reports, no jargon.

At your organisation

How we work at your organisation

Within your own teams

For Rabobank our people work within the existing teams and at architecture level. You stay in charge; we bring the experience.

As a complete team

For a solution you do not build yourself, we deliver the whole team: consultant, architect and developers, with one point of contact in the Netherlands.

In your landscape

We integrate Mendix into your existing systems: ERP, HR and legacy. The core stays clean; we build the flexibility around it.

With clear agreements

Scope, rate and planning are fixed beforehand. No surprises afterwards.

What you can check

Do not take our word for it

Stoneworx is a Mendix Service & Reseller Partner (Silver).

See our listing in the Partner Finder

Stoneworx is SNA-certified and listed in the register of the Stichting Normering Arbeid (NEN 4400-1), the Dutch labour standards mark for companies that second staff. The certification is voluntary; we have held it for years. From 1 January 2027 such an admission becomes mandatory under the Dutch Wtta act (Wet toelating terbeschikkingstelling van arbeidskrachten), which builds on the same standard. So we already comply. For Dutch clients, SNA also means protection from hirer's liability for payroll taxes and VAT, provided 25 percent of the invoice amount is paid into our g-account (a blocked account for tax payments).

What we do not do

That is clear too
